The Chattanooga Head Start/Early Head Start Program has unique ways of reaching and involving parents in every aspect of Head Start.

The Parent Involvement philosophy of the Chattanooga Head Start/Early Head Start Program is predicated upon the Head Start/Early Head Start vision for Parent Involvement. The goals and principles of the Parent Involvement vision statement are based upon a partnership with parents which supports parents as the primary educators of their children, and provides opportunities for meaningful experiences in the Head Start/Early Head Start Program. Parents are ensured the opportunities to participate in the policy making and program decision –making. Based on the principles which support the culture of families, the program provides Family Literacy Program to promote family goal setting, economic self-sufficiency, and independence. The Head Start/Early Head Start Program respectfully supports children with disabilities and their families, and reaches out to include fathers. The program is committed to develop and sustain partnerships between Head Start/Early Head Start staff and parents. It is important to note here that no single ingredient is responsible for the success and effectiveness of our Head Start/Early Head Start Program – IT’S THE COMBINATION OF PARENTS AND STAFF WORKING TOGETHER WITH OUR COMMUNITIES, IT’S THE MIX THAT MAKES IT ALL WORK.
